Material safety, simplified.
What goes on and in your body matters. Here's what to look for — and what to leave on the shelf.
Non-porous and body-safe means the toy won't harbor bacteria and contains no toxic plasticizers (phthalates). Silicone, glass, and stainless steel are your safest bets.
Body-safe materials
Non-porous, hypoallergenic, body-safe, and easy to clean. The gold standard. Note: use only water-based lube.
Borosilicate glass is non-porous, can be warmed or cooled, and is beautifully smooth. Extremely durable.
Non-porous, weighty, ideal for temperature play and G-spot/prostate stimulation.
Safe, rigid, and common in high-quality vibration motors and handles.
What to avoid
Porous — retains bacteria and can't be fully sterilized. Often contains phthalates.
Can contain phthalates (plasticizers linked to health concerns). Porous and not body-safe.
